'EXPLOSIVE' CAIRNS OUT TO WIN HEARTS OF DANISH FANS.
Fast-rising Irish prospect Steven Cairns eyes win No. 7 against Polish Marjan Wesolowski.
An interesting undercard for the women’s world bantamweight title showdown between Danish superstar Dina Thorslund and Mexican counterpart Yulihan Luna Avila
Expect nothing less than an explosive performance from fast-rising Irish super-lightweight prospect Steven Cairns when he takes on Polish rival Marian Wesolowski on Friday September 1st, at the Graakjaer Arena in Holstebro, Denmark.
A decorated amateur fighter, the 21-year-old Cairns is raring to extend his unbeaten record to seven bouts since turning professional in June 2021. He is coming off an impressive first-round TKO victory against Czech foe Michal Dufek in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in June—the third stoppage win of his career to date.
Up next for Cork-born Cairns, who claimed the European Youth silver medal in 2015, is another Polish opponent in Wesolowski, who currently holds a 3-7-1 win-loss-draw record, In what promises to be an intriguing clash will serve as one of the fitting appetisers to a mouth-watering women’s world bantamweight title showdown between Danish superstar Dina Thorslund and Mexican counterpart Yulihan Luna Avila in the big fight night co-promoted by TK Promotion and Disrupt Promotions.
Dubbed “The Irish Takeover,” Cairns said: “I am really looking forward to getting back in the ring and staying active. I have been really pushing myself this camp and improving my all-round game, while also sparring with some world-class partners.”
“I’m bringing the same energy as always, I’m looking to excite the Danish fans and ensure they remember my name. One thing Cork and Denmark have in common is the colour of our flags, which my fight kit has been inspired by.”
“The fans can expect explosive boxing that can end a fight at any minute. We are stepping up to eight rounds for this fight. It will be a calculated breakdown and I will aim to take my opponent out late.”
Also out to gain a fair share of the spotlight in the supporting bouts are homegrown talents Jacob Bank, Payman Akbari, Nesar Kunduzi, and Mikkel Gribsholt.
